Chapter 1

"Oh dear time," said Mette without any warning when we were sitting together in front of the fireplace and drinking the first mulled wine. "We haven't drawn the curtains at the windows yet! "

I looked at her in amazement and couldn't help but grin.

"So what?" I said, naive as I was back then. "It doesn't matter. Nobody can get here anyway."

"You have no idea," Malin sighed. "Well, you don't come from here."

Britt nodded approvingly while Mette got up and pulled the curtains almost frantically.

The hut was in the middle of the forest, definitely five kilometers from the next town. Outside it had long become dark, and there was definitely a meter of snow here. If there was a place in the world where there was almost a 100% chance that no one would come by this night, it would be here! In any case, I thought with the arrogance of the ignorant foreigner.

"You don't want to seriously convince me that you are scared of someone staring into the hut from outside!"

But to my astonishment all three nodded.

"And who in God's name should that be?"

Malin leaned over the table. On and on.

"Trolls," she whispered so softly that I could hardly understand it.

"Trolls?" I asked loudly and incredulously.

My fellow students looked almost horrified.

"Not so loud," hissed Mette. "You can't say her name out loud! Otherwise they

'll come running in droves! " Malin and Britt nodded and gave me a serious look.

" You're kidding me, aren't you? "

My fellow students shook their heads.

"You believe in this nonsense? Seriously? "

Mette, Malin and Britt nodded again in unison.

They are really serious, I thought stunned. They believe in trolls! And in today's time!

"You Norwegians are a strange people," I amused myself. "On the one hand, highly modern and progressive. And on the other hand, still terribly superstitious!"

"It's not superstition," said Malin in an almost angry voice. "It really does exist!"

I showed her a bird and drank my mulled wine. And then I got up and went to the door.

"I'm going to show you now that trolls only exist in your fantasies!"

"Lena, what are you up to?" asked Mette, startled.

"No, leave the nonsense!" Malin cried.

"Oh my god," gasped Britt,

But I was already standing in front of the hut in the snow and put my hands around my mouth like a funnel.

"Hello, you trolls out there!" I cried out as loudly as I could. "Here are four cute girls waiting for you! Come on, come and fuck them!"

Then I turned around and went back grinning.

"Do you see? Nothing happens! But nothing at all! "

My three fellow students had gone pale. Mette stared at me with an open mouth, with the naked panic in her eyes. Malin gave me bitter looks and Britt slapped her hands over her face.

" My God, what you just did ... "she whispered. "Now they will come and fuck us. One by one ... "

" You stupid German, "Malin groaned.

I raised my hands soothingly.

"Come on down, girls. Have another mulled wine and calm down.
